we heart accessories {scarves}

scarves!

It's a widely known fact that we love accessories (after all, we're in the business of MAKING them}...
but there's more to our love for accessories than the perfect pair of earrings. What about the perfect scarf?, the one that goes great with that pair of earrings. We're not afraid to pair scarfs with necklaces and you shouldn't be either...here are just a few of our February Faves (and some other to look forward to for spring).

we heart garland

One thing we heart heart heart -garland.  so many reasons to celebrate, so many shapes and sizes.  a great way to add a temporary and inexpensive pop of color to a neutral room, and diy easy! or lots of variety to buy.  really, just search pinterest. and seriously don't we all need more celebration of the every day in our life?  I think so.

lets organize by category, there are so many heart-worthy ones.

The wax paper and crayon variety.  you could do leaves for fall, or shamrocks for St. Patty's day...oh darling Martha, you make it seem so easy...two sore wrists, crayon shavings everywhere! and 1 ruined ironing board cover later {thankfully already in sore need of replacing} here was my attempt...

the felt variety...

felted balls which you can buy or felt your own

the paper variety...

festive words {picture something like this in the "chugga chugga choo chooooo" variety for a 4yr old's train birthday party - so doing this!  i should probably start now, might take me 6 months to cut out all these letters...who has a cricket machine??}

you can punch out and sew paper cardstock, of which the possibilities are endless!  love this etsy site if you just want to make it easy on yourself and buy it already made...

we made this one for a baby shower my best friend and I threw for our other best friend, she could not believe you can sew paper, really you can quite easily.

tassles {which ms. plume apparently made a fabulous one from dollar store finds and I have yet to see, maybe she will give us a guest tutorial}

one more paper idea  - that is going to makes it way to my boys' bedroom.  no surprise - love the vintage look of it.

the fabric variety...

bunting. oh how I heart you!

for both my boys' birthdays I made bunting loosely based on the diy pattern above

each year so far, I have had them decorate the number of how old they are and I've added it to the chain.  of course I have dreams that I will continue this for years...

did I mention bunting yet??  with upholstery webbing, die.  and so inexpensive {like .49/yd}

this is one that Ali made, what a lovely way to greet people as they walk in her front door.

tulle - magical, enchanting, so ballerina.

flowers - everyone needs more flowers in their life!  hello May Day decor??

and in thinking outside the box...

everyday appeal, why not celebrate that its thursday! with wood veneer

so we really do heart a lot of garland around here, and these were just our very faves.

seems fitting - garland decor is very much like adding a great necklace to your outfit.   we'll take it!

Happy Thursday.

Best,
Kirsty

We heart {small} tokens of gratitude

In the crazy, fast paced, often times unthoughtful, world we are living in, small tokens of gratitude are so very wonderful and unexpected.  who doesn't love a little gift?!  and who doesn't love to give a great gift without braking the bank?! and well we can't always whip up our latest homemade creation, so here are some of our current "purchasable" favorites...

I actually just received this adorable journal as a thank you.  it looks so stylish on my night stand.  and the thought process is that you just write one line a day, how hard of a commitment is that?  for 5 yrs.  what fun to look back at that day five years running.  {confession: I haven't started writing yet, I can't quite wrap my brain around one line a day, how do you??  BUT I love the idea and will get there...}

There is also a new mom's version, this is genius...

We are obsessed with coconut, and for the record have been for a long time.  maybe its the way the smell immediately transports you to your favorite sunny vacation spot, or how now its being touted for its health benefits, don't even get me started on triple coconut cupcakes.  love this brand for its fabulous scents and now add shimmery kisses, and only 8$ - done!  wouldn't this be a sweet token to give along with a handwritten note...

We could easily, and may very well, do an entire post dedicated to the chocolate we heart, but in the meantime lets start here.  this company makes the most delectable chocolate, starting from the cocoa nib to finished product, on original antique european machines {heart} and they are 100% fair trade {heart again} and organic {total heart}.  so 4$ a chocolate bar might seem steep, but its also "voting with your fork" is how I think they put it, to make the world a better place.  if you are ever in Seattle, they do wonderful tours and chocolate tastings as well - highly recommend!  this is one {of many} of my favorite flavors...

This is kind of basic, but also very classic and chic on its own.  and 6$ is very nice.  fill it with your favorite sweets or tea or even a small bundle of flowers, darling. and the monogram makes it feel very personalized right?

We heart this entire shop, but what about one of these ridiculously-cute-for-a-plain-old-pencil-pencils, with a note recalling a favorite memory attached to it.  a note to check in and catch up on old times.  or a plan to set the date to get together.  love this idea...

I had this friend in college {and still do!} who would write me random encouraging notes every so often on recycled bits of something that had reminded me of her.  think pieces of cereal boxes, magazine pages, wrappers...it was so wonderful to receive the notes and to see how I was being thought of in her regular day.  it is a gesture that I try to carry forward in my life.  of course some seasons I am much better at being intentional than other times.

In the week of love ahead, lets celebrate someone randomly for a small something they did that inspired or uplifted you.

Happy Tuesday.

Best,
Kirsty

ode to valentine's... {day 1}

In an effort to celebrate one of the greatest things ever...LOVE...we thought we'd share some of the things we have a heart for throughout the month of February....

i'm sure you won't be surprised to find out just how much

of course it's perfect (and a bit pricey) for all things fashion, but lately making a house a home has taken more of a priority anthro comes through time and again with some great ways to add a little more style to your average room. Even if you can't afford the prices, it's a great place to par rouse for some inspiration and arrangement.

We find inspiration from anthro because they are a lot like us in practice, marrying the vintage to the new, and they do it so well! In a perfect world, we'd take one of each, in the meantime..we remain in love with anthro, if not for their prices, surely for their style!

what do you love about anthro?!

Sample Sale!

We have been a bit m.i.a. lately...lots of cleaning and designing and organizing and dreaming, on top of what just seems to happen in our daily lives.  Lots of fun ideas and projects in our brains that HOPEFULLY we will find the time to pursue and share.

In the meantime...

We are cleaning out our studio, cleaning up our website {pardon the slight mess} and making way for new spring and summer pieces.  Sadly, this means saying goodbye to some beloved Lucia K. Jewelry, but lucky for you it means a sample sale on some of our favorite pieces.  Um yes I said Sample Sale!!

Supply is limited and once its gone {unless we find some hidden box deep under a shelf - which sadly I can't say hasn't happened - but don't go counting on it!} it's gone.

Happy Shopping!

Happy Thursday.

Best,
Kirsty
