sequin moment {4 way friday}

one dress.  two girls.  and a whole lot of sequins!

because I just don't think sequins need to be reserved {albeit always appropriate} for the cocktail event, so I had the bright idea to challenge Jenn to style this sequin number four ways.  hopefully highlighting its versatility and that it is not just a one trick pony...perfect for a party and then stuffed back into the closet.

#1 - classic.  immediately I claimed the classic predictable look.  this is your statement christmas party dress or new years eve soiree sparkler.  love the flattering silhouette without being to racey.

husband said "try biting your lip"  he likes to make that joke a lot because I do not pull of sultry well at all, and the whole biting your lip makes me look silly every time.  thanks hub.

#2 - casual yet oh so sophisticated.  how about layered over a classic white button up shirt, and pair with flat over the knee boots, maybe you wouldn't rock this to the grocery store but it is easily day appropriate...downtown christmas gift shopping or catching up with a friend over lunch.

clutch - Tory Burch {old}

then it started to get tricky...

#3 - all turned around.  I kept trying to layer bulky sweaters or short jackets with this dress but nothing was working.  I was determined, how about layering a full skirt over the top?  especially ANY of these!  {why haven't I purchased yet??}  I think it works, turn my dress into a shirt?  forgot to mention above, I am wearing the dress backwards.  then I layered a skirt over a dress.  oh and I took a pair of old boots and folded them over to create booties.  so its a complete mixup, but I think it works.

#4. the best for last - this short little number ended up being more tunic, less dress on Jenn in her awesome tallness.  I'm not sure there is a better going out to dinner or meeting someone for drinks during these dark winter months outfit.  seriously in love.  and this is the dress worn the correct way, from the front.

so there you have it.  I hope this makes you want to own, and wear, more sequins.   and maybe next time we style pajama pants.  who's ready to snuggle up next to the fire with a plate of homemade cookies under the christmas tree lights.  Holiday season is wearing me out.

TGIF.

best,
kirsty {and Jenn}

  2. Cute dress and I've been wanting a sequined little number. I like that it has sleeves. I can't tell what size I need...can't stand when they run s/m or m/l ...I'm kind of in between. Do you find that it runs true to size. I've got boobies but typically wear medium or size 6. I don't want to ask you your size but it would be nice to know what you think of the sizing? Thanks!

    1. Kristi - I know it is hard, and annoying!, when the sizing is so limited. I tend to have the opposite problem, not a lot on top but my backside is the issue. I am typically a small (i ordered the s/m) and it is definitely a little big for me, I wish it fit a little more snug. Depending on if you want it to fit snug or loose, you could go either way, it does seem to have some stretch to it as well. does that help?! I know that Jenn ordered both sizes thought the m/l was a lot bigger.
