its not my motorcycle but it makes my boots look cool right?

is anyone else feeling like this has been a really long week?

I have always loved fridays, the anticipation of the weekend ahead.  at this stage in my life fridays look a whole lot like skillet pizza and big bowl of popcorn, happily squished on the couch with my little pj clad wriggle worms and my best friend, watching either robin hood or wallE {the only thing that stops them from wriggling}, and considering it a small victory if I stay awake past 10 o'clock.

its pretty awesome.

my outfit - do you know the Old Navy rockstar skinny jeans.  they wear so well, this is my first pair, I am amazed at how well they hold their shape and I love the choice of colors and the price.  if you are nervous of the skinny jean or colored denim, start here.  tunic, seen here and here, yep its a fave.  and my new moto jersey jacket.  here's whats great, its light weight jersey, hello socal solarvortex, I am having serious jacket envy from the rest of the country.  and I bought my favorite booties in black since they are now 50% off.  seriously.  thank you Jenn {yep she's blogging now} for the tip.  Lastly I layered in a bunch of gold necklaces and a pop of a cooler green color for the earring, all made by me but not on the website, I'm sorry I feel like a broken record with "not available yet".  what do you think?

leopard in the streets {what i wore}

I look at these outift pictures and I can't help but think how much better a pair of burgundy colored pumps, or red, would look.  they would make this outfit.  I have way more shoes than I need, yet not the right pair.

this is the nature of fashion, what I love.hate.get excited.despise.

there is always going to be something just.a.little.bit.better

so its all in moderation, having a budget, being disciplined, not buying every wonderful thing you see.  can you imagine those people with endless shopping budgets.  I wonder if they would still get the same thrill from an amazing shoe sale.  or finding that perfect pair of denim on sale.  like these leopard jeans that I spotted for 75% off at Anthropologie!  oh the victory.

so for now I will ponder my bright hued shoes, and keep an eye on the sales for that perfect pair.

here's what I'm shopping today {the Gap sale}

I was thinking it might be time to add more hearts to my wardrobe.

then the Gap went and made it almost irresistible, oh dear.  they have definitely made that an even easier decision, all of their regular priced items are 40% off right now, and sale items are 50%.  {use code MORE, good until 1/29}  how can they do that?

hearts, spring essentials {seriously denim tunic and white jeans with wedges}, winter coziness, oh and I love these workout pants for baradorable little boys clothes, don't even get me started on the girl clothes...

tuesday here I come!

happy hearts.

10 ways, well not quite yet...

I love shoes, what I love more is an awesome shoe on sale.  I've been known to do some pretty crazy things for a shoe sale.  crawling on my hands and knees while pregnant to get to the 70% off Marc Jacob shoes, waiting in line before the sun rise for a Dolce Vita sample sale.  anyways...

my favorite booties are currently 50% off right now.  so what did I do, of course I invested in the black pair as well.  you know its serious when your husband even suggests that you buy a back up pair.

Jenn is the one who found these booties originally, she's so good.  so lets just revisit them shall we?

I think booties are hard to pull off because of where they hit on the ankle.  what I really like about these is the lower cut and the way they hug your foot, it makes them super flattering.  I also really like the metal toe detail and the heel height.

a friend of mine joked that I need to style them 10 ways on the blog.  for sure I have worn these numerous times, I just haven't documented 10 yet.  here are a few...

so there you have it.

Happy Friday.

would you believe me {what i wore}

if I told you that I would have preferred NOT to shave my legs for a january wedding.

and that I would have preferred to put on tights and a fur collar.

really, I would.

but alas, I am sorry most of the country, it is warm and glowy here in socal {and it was perrrrrfect for this outdoor wedding}.  I can't change the weather folks.  I am so jealous of the snow and cozy weather so many of you are having.  there is something so nostalgic to me about breathing in air that is so cold your boogers freeze.

really.

can we talk about this dress.

is it awesome dark navy lace - yes.

was it a bit of a splurge - yes.

have I worn it many times to many different events, more than I had ever thought when purchasing, getting lots of mileage - yes.

is this my best pairing yet, with nude booties - I think so. {I've done black pumps, suede boots, blue pumps, blue tights, black tights, no tights, brown sandals.}

this dress without tights and with kids is risky, even putting your hand on your hip is risky, it is short.  it makes me feel a little rebellious.

but aren't they the cutest dates.  there are moments when you get to put them in outfits, granted not ruffles and tutus and bows and glitter.  but thank you from mothers of all boys for darling mustache ties and mini rainbow sandals, checkered vans and bow ties, and colored skinny jeans.  oh heaven.

this wedding was outstanding.  Angie and her groom were magical.  hopefully there will be more pictures to come.

dress - French Connection, Queen Anne Dispatch {new version in dark green and on sale, get out please, and I love the "runway" option on the ASOS website for their product pages.}
booties - Anthropologie {here in black}

Happy January, may your skies be clear and bright no matter the forecast!

plaid shirt date {4 way friday}

well its not exactly a 4 way friday.  just a casual dinner in with our families, all together!

this is a favorite shirt for both Jenn and I, here, another version here, in fact, if I had my way of endless fashion budget, I would buy these plaid shirts for every day of the month.  so comfortable and such a great fit.  perfect for a casual dinner together, comfortable but pulled together.

here's our {sort of} impromptu photo shoot.  if only I had permission to show the outtakes...

{its her dreamy purse and restoration.eat.your.heart.out patio}

{yep I parked myself next to the giant bowl of guacamole.  tortilla soup, the canlis salad {can I just say mint and bacon - do it!}, brown butter chocolate chip cookies not pictured.  all so good.}

{71% of the children, all the boys.  do that math}

#1 - borrowed bag.  my purses are never pictured because lets be honest, they are old and well-loved.  I tend to destroy my purses.  but I am really coveting this one and perhaps its splurge worthy?  gray leather with gold zippers.  love the size and shape.  handle that can be worn over the shoulder or in your hand.  uber chic but functional?  I'm wishing...
shirt - Rails, Queen Anne Dispatch
tank - H&M.  very old and loved.
jeans - 7fam, Hautelook
booties - DV for Dolce Vita, Nordstrom {now 50% off!}
bag - Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nordstrom
lipstick - Nars {gift from Jenn, I know right.}

 #2 - perfect layers.  when you don't want to bundle up in a jacket but its chilly, how about layering a great chunky sweater of the top.  keeping the bottom slim in skinny jeans and boots keeps this outfit balanced instead of bulky.
sweater - Shopbop {um 50% off!}
shirt - Rails, Queen Anne Dispatch
jeans - Citizens, Nordstom
boots - Paul Green, Nordstrom

Happy New Year, hope you all enjoyed good meals with those you love.

best,
kirsty {and Jenn}
