just another romper in the grass {what i wore}

romper - old
boots - Sam Edelman, Nordstrom {lots of colors on sale}
sweater - Brandy Melville, old.

Cardigans are a great way to make an end of summer outfit work, those days that start blissfully chilly only to become quite hot then back to chilly.  On again, off again cardigan.

Great cardi options...

happy wednesday.

kirsty

stripes, moto, and fringe please. {what i wore}

top - Free People, Queen Anne Dispatch {also here}
moto jeans - DL1961, Piperlime {on sale!}
boots - Sam Edelman {in cocoa here - the color I have.  also olive hereblack here {super sale}& tan here}

Currently, three of my most favorite things - stripes always, moto jeans, and fringe - anywhere and always, the more the better...although I tried on a leather jacket with fringe down the arms and it just didn't work but I think it was more the cut of the coat rather than all the fringe.  I'm not opposed, just always hunting.  Oh and a 4th LOVE - photo bombing by my baby boy.  Done.

Happy July.  I can't even remember June.  Except I now have a 6yr old, and going to the grocery store is crazy, thank you summer with no breaks.

Thank you for reading my blog.  What do you like?  Want to see?  I suppose constructive criticism is ok too, just be gentle.  Tell me!

just a normal day {what I wore}

{CS Lewis via}
This is kinda where I'm at right now.  We are approaching a year of being in California.  Last year at this time we were packing up our belongings, madly finishing house projects, and trying to soak up as much time with those we loved as we possibly could, saying goodbye to my lilac bushes.  Today I planted a vegetable garden.

My baby was still using a pacifier and saying "w" instead of "r".  Somewhere in the last 345 days he dropped both those habits.

 shirt - Joie Clothing
jeans - Mother Denim
boots - Sam Edelman {in cocoa here - the color I have.  also olive here, black here, tan here}

This last week has been a difficult one for too many of the people that I care about deeply.  Life can be amazing, yet so unnerving.  Crazy joy and tremendous sorrow.

Show your love today to someone.  Isn't this inspirational?

I'm a momma {what i wore}

I'm a momma who is signing her first born up for kindergarten in the fall.

I'm also a momma who's youngest is tall enough to ride the matterhorn at Disneyland, and does so with such zealous joy it makes my entire week.

I've just been sort of spinning this week.  and crying some.  and texting my friends and family for support.  its a crazy ride motherhood.

There are moments when a minute feels like eternity and I can not wait for bedtime!  and yet life is flying by in a blur and so often I wish wish wish I could just freeze moments in time.

what a precious gift it is for me to be their mommy.

happy wednesday.

4 ways we are wearing the perfect spring jacket. {4 way friday}

two girls.  one jacket.  one spring season on the horizon. *fingers-crossed*

besides here, here, and here.  here is 4 more ways we are wearing it.

take note - the trick to a cargo style jacket - especially once the warmer weather hits and we are replacing bulkier sweater type clothing with lighter layers, is to cinch and cuff.  you want definition at the waste, the jacket below has a cinch on the inside of the jacket which is key to making it flattering.  and cuffing the sleeves is just better.  ok now we can begin.

#1 - with lace.

jacket - H&M
dress - C&C California, mine from Queen Anne Dispatch
shoes - 80%20, ASOS
necklace - Lucia K. Jewelry

 #2 - with florals.

jacket - Sanctuary, Nordstrom
shirt - Hinge, Nordstrom
shorts - 7fam, Piperlime
sandals - Gentle Souls, Piperlime
necklace - Stella & Dot
lips - Nars, Sephora

 #3 - with flannel

jacket - H&M
flannel - Rails, Queen Anne Dispatch
slip - Queen Anne Dispatch
shoes - Anthropologie
necklace - Lucia K. Jewelry

#4 with stripes.

jacket - Sanctuary, Nordstrom
shirt - Gap
pants - Aritzia
sandals - Sigerson Morrison, Bluefly
clutch - Pretty Ships, Nordstrom

a few other cargo coats we are loving...

thanks for reading, whats your favorite way to wear a cargo jacket?

come on kimono {what i wore}

floor length kimono

fashion obsession confession:  did I mention this one already?  once there was this really cool mom, at soccer practice {so cliche I know}, and she had on the most rad, or raddest?, floor length red kimono.  its been tucked in the back of my mind in my fashion obsession file every since.  and can you believe I {well Jenn actually} stumbled upon this one at H&M.

kimono

suede booties

and my shorts - prized Levi's that were actually cut by my moms own hands in the 70's.  wardrobe treasures, even if the 3rd button down on the button fly likes to pop open occasionally.

vintage denim
kimono - H&M
tank top - American Eagle
shorts - levi's {vintage, similar}
booties - DV by Dolce Vita, Nordstrom
necklace - Lucia K. Jewelry

shorter kimonos

longer kimonos

cheese with a sure chance of cupcakes. {what i wore}

this past week, although under sad circumstances, we were able to head back to our beloved Seattle area for a few days, to be with family and friends, soak up the moss covered sidewalks {do you see that lovely lush greenness?!}, breathe in the fresh rain cleansed air, and appreciate some of our favorite local foods with a few of our favorite people.  we dusted off our rain boots, dug out our winter coats and did our best to eat at as much as possible.

and because I feel like these all need a shout out, our food tour went a little something like this :
delfinos stuffed spinach pizza. lots of seattle starbucks, trust me its just different near the mothership.  shopped for dinner essentials at the met market - for the best house-made mozzarella, house made crostini, and they also happen to sell rachel's ginger beer - nothing better for a moscow mulepagliacci pizzatrophy cupcakesla reve bakery - I can never choose. cupcake royalemolly moons - who first introduced me to a scoop of ice cream over piping hot fresh oatmeal, for breakfast, life changer. Din Tai Fung. and essential baking company - really the best organic mocha I've had to date.

so its a good thing these pants are stretchy.

hunter rainboots

oversized sweater

fall layers

marc jacobs handbag

wedge rainboots
sweater - Free People, Nordstrom Rack {also here}
floral tunic - Free People, Nordstrom {similar}
jeans - Old Navy {mine in burgundy, all old navy rockstar jeans rock}
rainboots - Hunter, Shopbop
bag - Marc by Marc Jacobs {same different colors}
sunglasses - Anthropologie {great for sale sunglasses, similar}
lips - Nars in Cruella, Sephora
nails - Butter London La Moss, Ulta

bun envy {what i wore wednesday}

I bought this shirt right after I had my littlest son.  I completely remember it...one of those moments when you just need something cute, you are too big for all your clothes but all your maternity clothes are frumpy slumpy.  I love the lace grandma detail.  I love the length.  I love the over-flowy flutterness.  and I love the memory behind it, as my baby is now 4.  I think this shirt keeps my black ensemble from being to somber.  And I love the lace under the jacket.

riding boots

tall black boots

and here's the thing, my hair does not do buns well.  is it my head shape?  the frizzy pieces that frame the face?  I just can't figure it out...

shirt - Meadow {old, similar}
jacket - Anthropologie, {similar}
jeans - Bluelab
boots - DV by Dolce Vita, Nordstrom
barrette - Anthropologie {old, new favorite}
earrings - Lucia K. Jewelry

similar shirts...
