leopard in the streets, a remix

I originally posted this outfit here, commenting on how I wished I had those perfect red shoes instead of black.  So obviously I had to shoot this outfit one more time, with the shoes I had envisioned.

I also distressed my jeans a tad.  Its just this phase I'm going through.  And here's the thing, I absolutely ironed this shirt, apparently incorrectly.

What do you think?  Which do you like better?

an updated classic. Target Style {what I wore}

leopard print cardigan

This t-shirt and skirt have been classics in my closet for at least 4 years.  Their shapes are great and the quality has stood the test of time.  The best part is adding interest with other pieces, like this Target cardigan in leopard print and red shoes.  Can I just say this cardigan comes in a multiple of colors and prints, of course the leopard is my favorite, and for the price it can't be beat, and currently all shipping is free.  It just makes sense for a great boost to my fall wardrobe.

triple threat

My three favorite purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale just happened to go perfectly together.

sweater - I have had in my mind a red patterned sweater every since I saw this great outfit on a gal at disneyland.  So when I saw this one on the Nordstrom Sale, I was hoping it would be right.  The fit can be hard with fitted sweaters - I may opinion they can often be too tight on me in the shoulders and upper arms, it is not flattering and just adds bulk.  And why do they always put seams right in the middle of your upper arm?  Well I am so pleased with this one.  The weave of the sweater keeps it snug but not too snug and the seams are in the right spot to be flattering.  Its a great length to slightly tuck {love a mullet tuck} or to wear long with a shirt underneath over leggings.  And I am in love with the lumberjack chic pattern.  So now I just need some cooler weather...

jeans - this is my first pair of Rag & Bone jeans {mainly because they are so dang expensive}.  I would definitely recommend going up a size.  I am amazed at how tight yet flattering these jeans are, it is quite a feat getting these puppies on.  My husband even approved the backside fit, I tell you this because this is rare that he likes a skinny jean.  I love the ankle zipper which makes them so much easier to get off and fit snug all the way down, and of course the zipper detailing.  The darker wash is a bit fancier than all of the sun-bleached, distressed, destroyed denim I have been gravitating toward lately.  These are a great addition to my closet.

shoes - the best for last.  leopard and d'orsay.  and a great heel height, not too crazy tall.  These are awesome, so is the price.  I couldn't be more excited to finally add some leopard to my shoe collection.  They also come in an awesome gray leopard.  My favorite purchase of the sale.

jeans - Rag & Bone, Nordstrom
shoes - Halogen, Nordstrom
earrings - Lucia K. Jewelry {do you like?}
glasses - Warby Parker {great company, post coming soon}

and can I just give a shout out to the sample tube of mascara I found in my drawer as I was in a pinch and couldn't find my go to Diorshow.  Benefits They're Real, its what Jenn uses for her awesome lashes and I thought yeah great but I already love what I use.  Well it is fab, besides having to be careful of the medieval spike ball wand, which is amazing at creating lash length.  I can't even believe I may be switching it up.

just a normal day {what I wore}

{CS Lewis via}
This is kinda where I'm at right now.  We are approaching a year of being in California.  Last year at this time we were packing up our belongings, madly finishing house projects, and trying to soak up as much time with those we loved as we possibly could, saying goodbye to my lilac bushes.  Today I planted a vegetable garden.

My baby was still using a pacifier and saying "w" instead of "r".  Somewhere in the last 345 days he dropped both those habits.

jeans - Mother Denim
boots - Sam Edelman {in cocoa here - the color I have.  also olive here, black here, tan here}

This last week has been a difficult one for too many of the people that I care about deeply.  Life can be amazing, yet so unnerving.  Crazy joy and tremendous sorrow.

Show your love today to someone.  Isn't this inspirational?

you never know what props you will find down the block.

"Gonna find me a mercury and cruise it up and down the road.  crazy 'bout a mercury."

Isn't this car so cool.  I love the attention to detail old classics have.  Look at the taillights and the awesome emblem.  I bet this car has some really great stories to tell.  Growing up in my small Montana town, the slightly larger town next to us, had a main street that ran pretty much the length of the town right smack through the middle.  In high school, the cool thing to do on the weekends, was to cruise this strip, there was even a roundabout at one end to turn around and head back the other direction, of course none of us were driving classic cars.  this was social media before social media, long before cell phones.  I sound really old don't I?

nude pumps, nude heels

leopard blouse

I've also taken a liking to distressing my own jeans.  and I fear no pair is safe.  it is very therapeutic.  I want to shred every knee, it is definitely addicting.  I really love the distressed look and just hate the idea of paying so crazy much for them.  so why not just destroy what I already have in my closet.  this was a plain old pair of dark denim that had been sitting at the bottom of my jean pile for a long time.  with a few precise holes and tears, their status has been elevated.

May your weekend include cruising, with the windows down, maybe a great burger joint and milkshake...something happy and nostalgic.

back to my roots in a pinstripe leopard sort of way {what i wore}

well I said I would not jump back on the overall bandwagon.

Not sure why I was so adamantly against, having had some treasured overalls in the past - I mean not just denim, black corduroy from the gap, my prized Esprit acid-washed pair from my parents, the well worn calvin klein version, and don't forget all the countless pairs as a toddler - and all so comfy and easy.

but then I saw tifforelie wearing these and I was sort of smitten, and then when I spotted them on hautelook for 50% off it just had to happen.  and holy smokes they are so comfortable.  I can't wait to wear this summer with tank tops and sandals.  I already wore them to disneyland with a big slouchy tee and oxfords.  so yes I am a fan.

t-shirt - Bobi, Queen Anne Dispatch {also find here}
overalls - free people {also here on sale, I scored them on hautelook 50% off!}
shoes - kelsi dagger {old}
bracelets - my own vintage, elva fields original vintage, queen anne dispatch
and lucia k. jewelry monogram

just daydreaming other future pairings...
