How to do a mini without doing a mini

Last month I had a sweet reunion with Angie as a momma! at the cafe that finally opened like the day after I moved.  We ordered giant fancy coffee, she brought her camera, I got baby boy snuggles.  It was a wonderful heart-filling morning.

During my California days I had major mini skirt phase.  Call it perpetually hot weather, constantly being tan, the beach always in view, it just seemed natural.

Not so sure I will have the same tendency in the warmer months of the Pacific Northwest, although I have always pushed the limit a tinsy bit on hem lines.

Enter this skirt, north meets south...literally and figuratively.

Here's why it's rad and if you're gonna:

There better be ruching.  Because if your going to do a mini, it's your butts best friend.

Adding high-low symmetry gives a nod toward dare to wear short, but the long adds sophistication and interest.

There is a time for heels and minis, but to keep it chic and effortless, try flats, or if you gotta have some height - this seasons platforms.
