How to tame too much crop. {what i wore}

pleather moto jacket, wedge sneakers

This is my one and only pleather jacket.  It was a sale purchase as Forever 21, I figured low price tag, very low commitment level, low risk.  I wasn't sure how much use I would get out of it.  Turns out quite a bit.  I am lusting after this jacket {are you kidding will I look this chic if i buy it?!}, and would love to upgrade, but until I am ready to pull that trigger this is what I've got.  With some outfits I don't love how cropped this jacket is, so I will add a black cardigan underneath to compensate for the croppedness.  This is a great trick with any jacket that feels a tad bit short or when you feel too exposed.

texture, pattern, and chain.

I really want to wear my leopard pumps {that I scored at the Nordstrom sale} more often, so I am pretending that they are a neutral.  This might be adding too much with the print of the pant and a chambray top, a classic white tee would be less of a statement, but I'm just gonna own it.  In the words of the beloved WNTW Stacy and Clinton "color, pattern, texture, and shine" is what adds interest to an outfit.

As for these pants, they are so super comfortable and you don't have to wear specific underwear, ahem for those of us who don't prefer a thong, this definitely ups the stock of any bottoms I own.  TMI?  I can't be the only woman on the planet who feels this way?!  The pockets and the stretchy waistband - icing on the cake.  Yet somehow they are chic and flattering.

Sign up for Piperlime emails, and you will receive 30% off one item, like these pants.  {scroll down to the very bottom of the Piperlime homepage for details.}  Plus they regularly email sale coupons.  Often times I will put items in my bag that I like, or I will pin them, and then I will wait for a coupon to purchase them. {Jlov taught me this.}

hello LBD

litte black dress

Well I'm actually glad to say I have no plans to wear a little black dress this weekend, looking forward to casual.  But I do believe everyone needs a great black {or navy} dress in their closet.  This is slightly conservative in the front and party in the back, and I love the idea of a back necklace with this dress, it could work year round with high boots or tights and pumps in the colder months {apparently these exist somewhere.}

Vegas Dreaming {what i wore}

dolce vita jumpsuit, vw bug

As I am looking through these pictures, I am dreaming of a Vegas Vacation.  If you know me at all, you may be surprised that I dream of Vegas, but in fact it is one of my favorite quick vacation destinations.  My husband and I may be the only people that travel to Vegas and don't gamble even a penny.  So why do we love??  Let me tell you...

First - It is a quick inexpensive plane ride, {and now a car ride} with no time change, which means 3 nights is perfect, which means we can manage to get a sitter for the kiddos easily which means it is realistic for us to have a couples vacation!

Ok but really there are amazing hotels for inexpensive.  The only two I stay at are The Trump Towers - no smoking in the entire hotel and no casinos in this 5-star resort.  It is an oasis a block off the strip, right across from the Nordstrom's entrance to the mall, need I say more.  They have a lovely pool with yummy poolside food and drinks {and I'm picky}.  Most of the rooms are suites with luxurious beds and bathrooms.  And second - The Encore/Wynn.  Also 5-star, the only hotel that somehow succeeds in pumping out the cigarette smoke so it doesn't stink, the decor is unreal, and the rooms, well the bed is the most comfortable ever and the flat screen tv swivels around the room, they sort of thought of everything.  The pool - amazing, especially when you order mojitos with sugar cane stir sticks.  Recently, Aria, also 5-stars, has been recommended to me, and 4.5 out of 5 stars on tripadvisor.com speaks very highly, so maybe I will branch out...

Where else can you find 5-star resorts for 90$-150$??

Great food...mac-n-cheese from Fix, Lobster roll from Society, Margaritas from Mesa Grill,  Pizza here.  Sushi at Social House.  We pretty much eat our way through.

Great shopping, you have the over the top window shopping in the hotels along with an awesome mall with every store I could ever want.

Great shows, night life, and people watching - my husband and I are the call-it-a-night-stay-in-our-hotel-room-pjs-and-a-movie kind, if not for all nightlife happening all around you in Vegas, you can't help but participate, and enjoy an evening out.  We have found great deals on Cirque De Soleil on Vegas.com.

You can actually book your entire trip on Vegas.com and find some major deals, I'm already dreaming planning my next rendezvous.

and last but not even close to least...to dress up - Vegas is a fabulous reason to get fancy and go all out.  This jumpsuit is Vegas perfection.  And jewelry inspired temporary tattoos, these must happen for poolside glamour, or a glitzy night on the town, don't they scream Vegas in the most appropriate way?  Fashion is whatever you want it to be in Vegas, but I like that there is a more sophisticated side too.

where's my tiara {what i wore}

tulle skirt

How to keep your two little princes from running into the street or photo bombing your shoot - give them props.  Funny, these are rarely used for actual lighting purposes.  Have you ever seen two cuter assistants?  I'm slightly biased.

wildfox polka dot sweatshirt

Jenn challenged me a few weeks ago to pull out the tulle skirt and style it yet again, it has made a few appearances here, here, also here.  So how to change it up?  I thought this Wildfox pink polka dot sweatshirt was perfect, and bonus is its crazy soft and pajama level comfortable, and on sale.  This outfit feels very girly to me but with a little bit of an edge thanks to my Sam Edelman lace up heels I snatched up from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, they're just awesome.

that one time I ate warm olives and drank french 75s {what i wore}

I am completely head over heels for a french 75 cocktail.  This may be the 3rdish time I have mentioned them on the blog.  Its just perfectness...completely bubbly, slightly tart, slightly sweet, with some depth from the gin.  And then we put a cherry on top.  Well it actually slid to the bottom.  But just like lips, it was the perfect pop of red.

so next time you have an occasion, and by occasion I mean sharing with at least 1+ companion, because it is just not a good idea to polish off a bottle of bubbles by yourself with added shots of gin.  nope.  Do this!

This hairdo was the wash+lotsofgel+go look.  When its crazy hot and the thought of a diffuser is unbearable.  It was slightly a disaster, I just owned it and went anyway.

Oh and also get some really good olives and heat them up.  Really really good.

Do you remember that time I said I wasn't going to get a black romper.  I'm so weak.  I am not sure why I have such a thing for rompers, they are a complete pain in the arse when you have to pee, and this happens a lot, this one has an open back, sorry no photos today, and this is how you get it off.  Not great for the hairdo.  Anyways, it's awesome regardless.

pajamarama {what i wore}

bravo to you fashion guru who thought to make pajama pants, aka the most comfortable pants ever, hip and flattering and totally appropriate around the clock wear.  I can't get over how happy I am in this outfit, it is so comfortable.  it is my quest to wear pjs as flattering awesome day wear.  So call them what you will joggers, track pants, trousers, beachwear.  I'm iiiiiiin.

Also I came to the realization that I can knot the bottom of my pants changing from a wide leg trouser to a tapered ankle affair...making the shoe pairings endless.
