My Favorite Chunky Sweater Gone Twirling.

Let's talk about Christmas Sweaters.  The statement sweater kind.  Not the ugly sweater kind.  Although you can drink eggnog in either.  Or champagne.  Or coffee.

I am smitten with this sweater.  It's soft and cozy.  It has awesome long cuffs on the sleeves.  It's just a little bit undone and it laces up with velvet ribbon.  It's easy to wear - would be perfect with jeans and boots.  Just perfect.  What's not to love?

But what I want to share is the dressier side.  I love a great sweater with a statement skirt.  Sequin, velvet, pleather, lace, full or pencil...  Because it's not the holidays without tulle, I brought out this old girl.

And twirled through an alley.  Just for the record, I'd do this anyways, even if I wasn't taking photos.

I love mixing a fancier statement skirt with this chunky sweater, it's a happy mixup.  Like breakfast and lunch making brunch.  Plus it gives more mileage to the pieces I already have in my closet.  Introducing two long lost friends right?

When pairing a chunky sweater and statement skirt - just try it.  I do like the mullet tucking of the sweater to keep the volume under control - full skirt and full sweater can be a lot.  And I like a ladylike heel.  But really do whatcha like kid.  Ooh ooooh.  (can you name that tune?)

Then because this cold winter day was gloriously sunny and this sweater is warm and cozy - all I needed to add was a fur scarf.  Ready set go.  Isn't this scarf amazing?

Still working out the bangs situation.  Thanks for your patience.  *eye roll emoji*  Or pretending to care.   *wink wink*   Honestly though!

Time for bed.

Happy Friday.

best,
Kirsty

Ps - a few of my favorite statement skirts.  That velvet ruffle one, ugh!!  And it's 35% off with code Friday.

how to wear a tulle skirt

tulle skirt and sweater

Let's talk about what never to do on Turkey day...Never ever wear a belt on Thanksgiving, or skinny jeans while we're at it.  Why make yourself aware of the amount amazing wonderful memory filled nostalgic calories you are consuming.

Enter the Tulle Skirt.

Consider this your alternative to buffet pants or sweatpants.  You can look like you care and are committed to the presentation of this Holiday without sacrificing what it's really about - eating and comfort.

Not sure tulle is your thing?  I get it.  It's a lot of fabric.  Sheer wonderful the stuff fairytales are made of fabric.  Clearly I have only boys.  But Seriously, tulle is having some major sticking power.

Think of a tulle skirt just as a full skirt, forget the tulle part.  Expect that you may find yourself unexpectedly twirling.  And be prepared, you will most definitely receive compliments on your style.

where's my tiara {what i wore}

tulle skirt

How to keep your two little princes from running into the street or photo bombing your shoot - give them props.  Funny, these are rarely used for actual lighting purposes.  Have you ever seen two cuter assistants?  I'm slightly biased.

wildfox polka dot sweatshirt

Jenn challenged me a few weeks ago to pull out the tulle skirt and style it yet again, it has made a few appearances here, here, also here.  So how to change it up?  I thought this Wildfox pink polka dot sweatshirt was perfect, and bonus is its crazy soft and pajama level comfortable, and on sale.  This outfit feels very girly to me but with a little bit of an edge thanks to my Sam Edelman lace up heels I snatched up from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, they're just awesome.

I think every girl no matter her age, needs a tutu.  and these earrings, milky turquoise chrysophase  beveled in sterling silver.  a match made in heaven.  expect the earrings very soon on Lucia K.
