A shift dress is a gem to have in your wardrobe. Style it for winter with tights and boots, add a fur vest and you are shift chic, and perhaps just a bit dressed up. After all, it is the holiday season, time to sparkle and shine. This dress will take you from daytime coffee to evening easy as pie. Oh and since we should all be eating pie right now, lets not forget the forgiving free form of a shift dress.
If you are concerned about the short length, make sure to wear opaque tights, not sheer. And again the shifty shape keeps the shorter length appropriate. You don't want a this dress to be too much longer or it will just swallow you up in volume. So keep it short please.
I particularly like this one because 1. it has pockets, 2. the back details, and 3. the cuff sleeves.
If you wanted to feel more casual during the day you could do a flat heeled boot, even one that is knee height or above the knee. The key to keeping the leg line long while wearing shoes other than pumps is to keep the color the same, black tights and black stack boots are a great combo. Of course brown tall boots and cream colored tights would be awesome for daytime.
This is what happens, I start writing my post and I start wishing I had styled it a different way for photos.
Can you please just take my word for it. So many great combos!
