Long Weekend, Laws of Layering

The art of layering.

Flannel - Tee.

I think you get the point.

When packing for a long weekend away with the family it's important to feel warm and cozy, functional but flattering.  And have versatility.  I love the way all these layers came together.  You can't beat a great tee layered over a henley.  I love the lace detail on the sleeves of this henley.  Free People always does a great job adding interest to their henleys while keep them lightweight and not bulky.  What is the opposite of bulky?  Couldn't think of another way to say it.  This is a great layering piece.

The flannel shirt in the PNW winter is a staple.  It's warm but light so it packs well.  Bonus for vacation as packing for winter weather is so bulky.

These skinny jeans are some of my favorite, they don't lose their stretch, so you can wear them a few days in a row, they were the only jeans I brought for the weekend, and not worry about them getting stretched out of shape.

The coat is warm and easy and works well over multiple layers.

And of course my go-to sneakers.  The color red gives a happy boost to this outfit of neutrals, and obviously they are great for keeping up with my boys and our weekend adventures, but I still feel stylish.

Which lets be honest, that's important to me.

One last thing, my sunglasses.  Because even though it's winter, as you can see the weather was amazing!  And these beloved rose gold aviators were missing until my husband cleaned out the car in prep for our vacation.  Woohoo.  Reunited.
