what i wore {wine tasting & so much more}

ok prepare yourself, I have a lot of stuff to say today.

such a treat this week.  first I was able to attend the Seattle Wine Awards with a good friend.  I know very little about wine, I asked a lot of questions.  it was fun to talk with the vitners, how they choose their grapes, how they came up with their wine labels, the flavors you should be tasting.  think rhubarb, vanilla, peach, etc...  plus there was some delicious food accompaniments.  the poor chefs were literally in a giant fireplace.  beautiful wood carved mantle, and also very warm.  the only thing missing was chocolate.  hellooooo!  wine without chocolate.  major oversight right?!  then I headed to church in the evening with my family.  funny, I felt a little overdressed for church.  casual Seattle.

outfit #1  wine tasting and church.

this dress was an outlet score that has served me well.  in fact, chances are if you have been to one of my shows, you may have seen me in it.  it gets a lot of mileage.  pretty sure ruffles are one of my favor embellishments ever.

my stack of bracelets were a Lucia K. Nora in hazelnut, also a leather wrap bracelet that isn't on the site yet.  and some vintage beaded trim that caught me eye, doesn't it make a perfect bracelet?  oh that detail of old.

and of course my monograms on the other wrist.

dress - J Crew Outlet
belt - Zara.com
boots - Frye
earrings - Lucia K Taylor

{do you see he is literally in a giant fireplace, where they are grilling the steak behind him.  next time you eat steak - add some smoked grey sea salt to it.  oh my goodness outta sight delicious.}

outfit #2 carried me through a most crazy of mondays!  my goodness I tackled a monstrous to-do list of jewelry orders and drop offs, grocery shopping and returns.  with two little boys in tow.  and then ended it at a 91st birthday BBQ for "Grandpa Duck."  the only way I could get this done was with some serious red power shoes moving me along.

at first I wasn't into this whole boyfriend jean style that's making itself known.  but once I realized it could give life to some oldies but goodies, I caved.  its comfy, casual and with some pumps, I'm  all of a sudden hip right?  woohoo!

take note of the new earrings, small gold tags have been requested a few times and finally I have added them to the collection {check back friday for a sale on these new additions!}  I will probably wear them the rest of the summer, every day.

tank top - Zara.com
jeans - super old Seven for Mankind "A" jeans.  in fact I think these began my love affair with the  A's.
shoes - Bronx, Queen Anne Dispatch {if you live in Seattle, this is a GREAT spot for shoes, and more}
earrings - Lucia K. Tag {available this friday!}
bracelets - Lucia K. Ginger and Tag Vintage Wrap Bracelets.

Happy 91st Birthday Grandpa Duck!

Cheers!

Some of my {very novice} wine picks...
2010 Goose Ridge Estate Winery Chardonnay {Gold Winner}  it was creamy and vanilla-y.
2009 Dusted Valley Vintners Boomtown Merlot {Gold Winner}  inexpensive, 11$ I think, great bottle.  they are located in Eastern Wa, but have a tasting room in Woodinville Wa.
NV Treveri Cellars Syrah Brut Sparkling {Double Gold} and bubbly.
2010 Little Monsters Wine Mama's Helper White Wine {Gold} great wine under 15$ and located in Fremont at the Book Bindery.  They are open for tastings and participate in Second Saturdays.
2011 Kaella Winery Rose of Sangiovese.  {Gold}

what i wore {not sure this is even worthy of a post}

so my last week has been one filled with two sick little boys.  to top it off my husband was out of town the majority of it.  needless to say we spent a lot of time in pj's.

the one thing we look forward to every week in the summer and early fall is the farmers market.  every thursday afternoon that is where you will find us.  it is our wood-fired pizza dinner staple.  and the debate between fresh hot beignets, the most scrumptious organic strawberry ice cream, a loaded blondie, or a chocolate chip praline ice cream sandwich.  are you kidding?  just gonna say that sometimes its a tie.  oh and produce too.  if my boys help pick out the fruit and veggies, they are 100% more likely to eat it.

so with luvies and blankies in tow, on our walk home from the doctors office, we made our weekly stop.  no running on the lawn listening to live music though, just food folks.

outfit #1 {and only} farmers market.

there's a good chance that if I'm wearing this headscarf its because there hasn't been a hair-washing in at least a couple days.  hey - my hairs curly so that's my excuse!  it also gives me a little boost of my mom's strength when I have it on me.  its my power scarf.

scarf - vintage from my mom years ago.  near and dear to my heart.
skirt - H&M girls {while I was shopping the always very minimal boy section, I spotted this in the always very plentiful girl section, had to try it, glad I did.}
shoes - old dolce vita.
earrings - Lucia K. Jessica
bracelet - Lucia K. wrap bracelet prototype and my boys' monograms.

some farmers market bounty.  loved the color of these raspberries with the contrast of the berry containers all lined up.

 pretty poppies.

some produce we had gotten on a recent market trip.  fun varieties of french radishes, spring walla walla sweet onions {little evoo and grilled - addicted!}.  shucksa strawberries and fresh bread.  oh yes.

promise I will have lots more fun, and outfits, this time around next week.

linking up with the Pleated Poppy what i wore party.

happy wednesday.

wedding love {Ali to David}

with wedding season upon us I thought I would share one of my favorite weddings.  although this one is dreamy and picturesque in alpine winter, the details could easily be carried into a summer soiree.

I love the style of this wedding, beautiful shades of steel gray and icy blue with the richness and warmth of bright red.  the bride is polished yet herself in a mermaid gown and side swept hair.  everything is thoughtful and welcoming, bringing so much of the couples personality and journey into the weekend.

no surprise that Ali was her own wedding planner, down to designing all the invitations and paper components.  the details and creativity in this wedding are really quite amazing.

thank you to Ali for allowing me access to all her wonderful pictures and for agreeing {sort of} to let me gush over her special day with everyone.

get ready, this post is lengthy, lets get to the pictures already.

right?

the wedding party was such a fun group, the photographer did a fantastic job of capturing them in the gorgeous elements and pristine crisp clear day.  of course they came prepared with ski goggles and snow boots for the occasion.

taking cues from one of their favorite past times and the amazing setting, Ali designed a monogram with a vintage ski ticket feel.  ski tickets printed with their monogram were sent out as "save the date" cards.  place cards were vintage lift tickets from various ski resorts printed with guests names.  they were hung from clothes pins between vintage skis that were signed by family members in attendance.  each table was given a ski resort name, the guest then matched their ticket with the corresponding resort.  the couple also had an iron brand made with their design that they then branded onto woodgrain paper for their programs.  the groom has given the bride an ornament every Christmas since they started dating.  this spurred the idea to use alpine branches cut into disks as tree ornaments, and brand them with their monogram as a token for each guest to remember this special day.  since this was a destination wedding, the bride and groom assembled welcome bags for all the guests when they arrived, with an itinerary of the weekend, goodies from the couples' hometowns, maps and suggested activities to take advantage of Durango, and gloves to help keep the guests warm.  so very welcoming.

alpine berries, evergreen branches, wild flowers, along with red anemones, ranunculus, and roses were mixed with pine cones, moss, and alpine tree trunks posing as candle holders.

the ceremony was performed under a wedding Chuppah.  the couple loved the symbolism of this canopy and both agreed it was important to them as a married couple.  similar to the tent of Abraham in biblical stories, the canopy symbolizes the home the couple will build together supported by their friends and family, welcoming to all and with Christ as their cover.  Ali's father and brother built the Chuppah out of local branches.  The single bunch of tulips at the ceremony celebrated and honored the bride's mother, who passed way the year prior.  they were her favorite flower.

a s'mores bar of course.  notice the addition of peanut butter cups.  seriously.

along with ombre scarves, the bridesmaids donned red flower shoe clips, handmade by Ali, and earrings made by the bride's sister {creativity runs in their family}.

the bride wore a knit shrug made by Knit Lulu {to keep warm before the ceremony} and custom designed Lucia K. jewelry.

what a wonderful way to tie the knot right?

I just love a good wedding.  icing on the cake is when it includes one of my favorite gals.

thanks for letting my gush.

happy monday.

best,
kirsty

flash sale friday

today is a great day for a sale don't you think? after weds post I just couldn't resist.

I had big plans to style the lovely Nora pieces in great summer fashions.  but life had different plans including two sick little boys this week.  this is an outfit from wednesday wearing the bracelet but that was as far as I got.

so there are no smartly styled pictures to share but I can still however share the sale.
and let you put together your own outfits using your personal style.  which is always the best.

lots of possibilities...classic white and denim.  animal print.  the color of the season - bright orange.  stack this bracelet on your wrist with silver, gold, or copper chains.  or two of this bracelet layered together would have a lovely affect.

doubled up with your go-to little black dress for summer.  and some gold peep toes.

a long flowy maxi skirt and white tank, some bright red or blue or green wedges.

the beads are a light pink champagne crystal with glints of rose gold.  the silk is a coppery bronze with soft black woven into it, cut on the bias for fantastic fringe.  the bracelet wraps twice with a copper magnetic barrel clasp.  the necklace can be worn long or doubled up short.  really can't go wrong in my humble opinion of course.

both the necklace and bracelet are 50% off through this Sunday 7.15

so go ahead start putting together your outfits already! and buy one for a friend.  add it to your nora collection.  and then after the summer ends {oh it may never end} this piece will carry you into fall {think skinny jeans and boots oh yes}.  how smart is that purchase!

happy shopping!

happy friday.

best,
kirsty

what i wore {post 4th & thanks VP}

its definitely becoming summertime here, all of my outfits are much more casual lately.  this is as dressed up as I have gotten in the last week.

outfit #1 - wore to what was supposed to be a pedicure and shopping date with my sister in law.  who knew at the same time Mr Vice President {of the USA} would be closing down the freeway we needed to drive on.  and us having no idea.  ugh.  fast forward over 90 minutes later and back we landed two blocks from home for drinks and dessert.  evening salvaged.  at least we got some quality girltime if not cute manicured toes.  {and yes I had flip flops in my bag for post pedi toes, had that actually occurred.}

this shirt was a random score from Cost Plus World Market.  did you know they have clothes there?  they have great shirts, dresses, and scarves at great prices.  especially with the ikat, tribal, flowy trends that are showing up right now.  I love the batwing sleeves and blousy breezy feel of this shirt without adding bulk.  and the lace detail along the sleeves always gets me.

oh look at that serious face right?!  but you can actually see my earrings in this picture so here you are...

also, my bracelet, so I introduced this color combo in the fall with its gold and copper tones, but man am I loving it with bronzy skin.  picture it with denim, white top, great sandals.  totally digging it year round.  **in fact I'm loving it so much for summer - check back friday for a flash sale**

batwing shirt - Cost Plus World Market
shorts - Seven for all Mankind A Jeans cut into shorts.
shoes - Frye, endless.com
earrings - Lucia K. Jessica
bracelet - Lucia K. Nora

outfit #2 -  a ferry trip with my younger cousin who has been visiting from Montana.  it turned out to be the most beautiful day for a trip on the puget sound.  we had such a fun visit with her.  look at that blue sky and blue water.

this also happened to be the day after the 4th of July, which we actually went for it and stayed up for the most amazing firework show.  this meant thursday morning came too quickly, this hat does double duty to hide unwashed hair and sun protection.  yay fedora!

tank - H&M
jeans - Vioss, Nordstrom Rack
hat - H&M
earrings - Lucia K. Tag

also we are linking up with Pleated Poppy today for what i wore.

fireworks over Lake Union in Seattle.  one of my very favorite events in Seattle.  pre-kids we never missed it.  now sharing this with my family and seeing the delight on Tyann, Riese, and Peyton's faces as they experienced this for the first time.  awesome.   Riese said "they look like sea urchins coming at us!!"

{last year I watched the top half of this show out my bathroom window while everyone else slept.  huge improvement.}

Happiest Birthday America!

and happiest wednesday to you.

best,
Kirsty

what i wore {orange lips & Wacoal - do you know your size?!}

this week has been very full.  my younger cousin has been here visiting so we have been doing lots of Seattle attractions {including major shopping!}.  also had the privilege to attend a Wacoal Bra event.  and a 90th birthday party.  so this ones gonna be a little lengthy.

outift #1 Seattle Aquarium date.  so I have completely fallen for my red lipstick, I love wearing it, but I feel there are times when glossy red smackers is too much?  case in point, the aquarium with my kiddos.  so I went into Sephora looking for something with a little less wattage, but this lovely gal Kali who helped me had the most fabulous orange matte lips.  so what do you think I ended up purchasing...  does it look too much like a popsicle?  I'm digging it utterly.

sorta sweatshirt - this was from shopruche.com  {but no longer available, sadly.  I would buy it in every color if it ever returns.  favorite.}
gray tanktop - H&M {like a 5$ purchase that has gotten TONS of mileage.}
jeans - H&M {just bought for 10$}
sandals - oldies from Sam Edelman, Endless.com
earrings - Lucia K. Jessica

outfit #2 - Yiaya Papya's {greek for grandma and something about ducklings} 90th birthday party.  amazing woman with an amazing family legacy.  love my in-laws seriously.  remember this skirt?

shirt - oldie from Anthropologie
skirt - Anthropologie
shoes - Frye, endless.com

 close up shot of the jewels.

outfit #3 - Wacoal event with Skinnypurse {at the chic Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle}.  it was so nice to be high above the evening traffic having tasty bites and drinks, viewing lovely lacy items, with a good friend, and meeting other great Seattle gals.  such a treat.

first of all, ladies - do you know your correct bra size??  meaning you have gotten fitted by an expert, here's the thing, there is a difference between a 32C and a 34B.  so many woman wear the wrong size and this makes such a difference in fit and comfort.  nordstrom is my preference for fitting - do it!

did you know they have a shapewear line?  and a younger-minded b'tempt.d as well?  they do such a great job of mixing quality and comfort with price and style.  was so impressed!

these are my favorite styles, a little vintage touch in a bright lace.  but of course.

and loved this one for its small details in a great fitting black bra.

this was my pick for an every day bra.  was ridiculously comfortable but still cute.  {its now in my closet I liked it so much.}

this for some sweet sass.

this for a touch of vintage vixen.

here's what I wore...

tank top -- Weston Wear, Queen Anne Dispatch
jeans - Pilco and the Letterpress, Anthropologie
bracelets - Lucia K. Monogram collection and leather wrap {not on site}

linking up with Pleated Poppy for what i wore.

Happy 4th of July, hope you all have the chance to celebrate our independence and cherish this country we live in for all that makes it beautiful.

best,
kirsty
