week 25. hellllllo spring!

I'm not sure how many of you noticed, but the bump was M.I.A last week. I've been having some serious nerve pain in my lower back (sciatica) making dressing in anything other than sweats and leaving the house somewhat undesirable. But here I am, back in action (mostly because I could only work from home so many days in a row before needing to head back into the office for some face time.)

The sun came out this week for more than one single day!  Viewing all of KP's fun sunshine pics (thanks to Vegas!) made me perouse my closet a little longer for any hint of spring I could find that still "fit" my growing belly.

shirt: h&m (old)

shoes: B.Makowsky (last season)*

Do you have any tips, pointers, remedies, or doctor's recommendations on pinched nerves and pregnancy? do share...

* Please ignore those white feet (longing for the CA sunshine) and the horrible paint on the house (the joys of renting!)

enjoy the sunshine if you're out here with us in the PNW!

curl product we love {the curl files}

well it has been a very long time since we have talked about curls.  partly because the next post was promised to be about products.  and well we {ALi and I} are product junkies, so its hard to organize our thoughts.

but lets just start with the product that has stood the test of time longest in our hair repertoire.

Ali first introduced this product to me over 6 yrs ago and it has been my go-to curl setter since. I can't say enough fabulous things about it.  its sort of a cream but with more holding power, but doesn't leave your hair with the "curl cast" effect, you know crunchy, like a gel or mouse tend to do.  Plus, its {semi} affordable.  smells great.  its love.  plus it works for a wide range of curls.  for smoothing and setting your curls when wet.  this is where we start.

in fact, if I could only have just one hair product {not counting shampoo and conditioner} it would be tigi curls rock.

happy thursday curls.

kirsty

pajama time {what i wore}

so I saw this post.  and I loooooved her outfit.  as usual. {she is one of my favorite fashion bloggers.}

and so I ran out and bought this {sorta similar} shirt and thought I'd try a similar look.

 and so I paired pajamas, pearls and pumps.  {and boyfriend jeans.}  perfection.

isn't fashion so fun right now?

shirt - J Crew {on sale! and extra 25% off!}
jeans - Seven for Mankind {ridiculously old, is that super apparent?!}
shoes - Cole Haan {also on sale, yay!}
necklace - Lucia K. Katherine {on sale too!}
sunglasses - Marc by Marc Jacobs

and can I just talk about the Katherine necklace.

every girl needs a great pearl necklace right?  The ribbon I used for this necklace is from a beloved role of amazing vintage grosgrain ribbon I found at an estate sale of the most amazing house overlooking Seattle.  {amazing!}  its silky and has a beautiful sheen and real ever so slightly scalloped edges, not manufactured ones.  then the 5 strands of varying sizes of creamy white freshwater pearls attached to 3 vintage german glass buttons.  you can twist them around any way you would like, hook and re-hook.  its wedding ready and every day ready.  so are you ready?

its on sale!  just for this week.  and there are only a few.  so hurry hurry.

happy wednesday.

vegas vacation flight style {what i wore}

my husband and I are taking a couple days for some much needed r&r.  rest and relaxation in vegas?  absolutely.  it has become one of my favorite quick vacation places ...poolside sun, yummy food, awesome shopping, luxurious yet inexpensive accommodations.  plus its only a two hour flight for us.

this is what i wore on the flight.  well there was a jacket worn at departure of course.  love a maxi to fly in, its like a big comfy blanket, yet you look more put together than sweats {which is my other preference for flights.}  thanks to my husband for some quick iphone photos in our hotel room before heading to the pool.

trying to rock a top knot, but it just ends up getting messier and messier at the day goes on.

 tank - J. Crew Factory {great place for quality inexpensive tanks}
maxi skirt - Hive & Honey, Piperlime {its back in stock folks!}
shoes - Kelsi Dagger, Queen Anne Dispatch {can you see the leopard print detail, awesome!}
sunglasses - Marc by Marc Jacobs
earrings - Lucia K. Tag
bracelet - Lucia K. Nora

week 23 . navy

I feel like one of these days I need to post an outfit that i've already worn...mostly because I even have a heard time telling how much I've really grown from week 17 til now. I can feel how much i've grown, but with different clothes it's harder to see i think.

did I mention yet that we're having a BOY!?! I promised at some point to post a little DIY on gender reveal, but I'm not sure how many soon-to-be moms are out there...so maybe we'll save it for when inspiration is lacking. Anyway, I'm wearing a lot of navy blue here in honor of the boy growing inside!

how about a little swapping {what i wore}

my friend recently hosted a clothing swap.  i couldn't wait to attend.  especially because she's a great shopper and budding professional stylist, it was like a peek into her fabulous closet.

how to host a clothing swap, basic steps...
1.  invite your friends.
2.  have your friends bring clothes that they no longer wear a.k.a. they don't make them feel great when they put them on.  {make this optional.  you don't want your friends to think they can't come empty handed!}
3.  hopefully go home with some new-to-you items that make you feel fabulous.

a few other items to create a successful swap.

delicious bites to munch on, trying on clothes creates an appetite am i right?  and bubbly is oh so nice.  plus you want everyone to mingle and have time to peruse all items.

have places to hang clothing items and clothes hangers.  {my friend rented racks from our local rental store.  they were quite inexpensive.}  color coded ribbon helped to keep track of who brought what.  also a place to try on clothes, and full-length mirrors for approval.  it seemed that a mirror out of the main mingling area was nice for those who preferred a bit more privacy.

doesn't Jenn have an amazing house?  love the leaded glass windows and gold radiators.

we also had a mini trunk show with Lucia K. Jewelry, so ladies could try on accessories with their items.  and purchase of course!  Also Jenn brought in some mannequins to show how outfits can come together easily and effortlessly.

Jenn thought of everything!  finally, she coordinated with a local consignment shop to pick up all un-swapped items.

 sweater - Shopruche.com {old}
booties - Kelsi Dagger {for the bajillionth time, love these} Queen Anne Dispatch
headband - vintage trim
earrings - Lucia K. Jewelry {not available yet...}

it was a great evening.  great conversation with friends.  yummy food and drink.  and I came home with a couple of great additions to my wardrobe.

what a great way to pass on items that you love but just don't quite love enough, to share them with friends.

week 22 . bold

the sun came out for a day this week, I took advantage and wore a dress to work. It's not a maternity dress at all, but I think it works—I especially love it paired with these earrings. It's a dress I've been wearing for ages, one that my mom and I spotted on a shopping adventure years ago.

dress: ripcurl (coastal boutique). old  |  sweater: target (old)  |  boots: frye
scarf: market find  |  earrings: faye knotted chain

It's hard to remember what it was like to wear this dress not pregnant...and then I found this gem...

I love how versatile it continues to be—stretchy fabric that just molds to the bump means savings on my wallet (which I'm sure will be spent on the nursery...)

here's hoping for more sun this weekend!

do you mullet tuck {what i wore}

you probably do and didn't even know it.  recently i learned the terminology for this style of tucking in your shirt.  and it makes me smile every time.  the things you learn from fashion blogs.

I look a little bit cuh-razy in this picture.  but thats what you get when your don't have time to take a lot of pictures.  you're choices are slim, and you end up with crazy faces.

when you are trying to survive kiddos with pneumonia, viral coughs, thrown backs, and the usual life.  this is what i could throw together.  and this jewelry trio makes me feel like a jeans and t-shirt become polished and edgy without the tiniest bit of effort.  no time to wash my hair but a quick jewelry addition I can do.

t-shirt - J. Crew
tank under t - H&M
jeans - Citizens for Humanity
shoes - Dolce Vita
watch - Michael Kors
earrings - Lucia K Tag (in small gold)
necklaces - Lucia K. Blake and Faye Knotted Ball

here's to march {what?}...longer days, trees budding, the first flowers blooming, and a vacation.

week 21 . winter white

I had all these grand intentions of showing you a little diy on announcing the gender of your babe, or at least how my husband and I announced it to those who don't live close to us. Maybe I still will, but for the current moment, there is no time...here's to week 21!

I sort of love this shirt because I don't feel so large and in charge...you can hardly even tell I'm pregnant, which on some days is just what I want. The "ombre" effect in my hair is totally unintentional and needs to be dealt with asap!

shirt: olive and oak (old)
 jeans: gap (last season)
shoes: report (old)
earrings: lucia k.

If you love these Lucia K. specials, contact us...we have just a few pairs in stock as these turquoise gems didn't make the final cut for the spring line. We have a weakness for turquoise, especially me growing up in the southwest...it sort of makes me feel a comfort of nostalgia and home. Pretty crazy what a pair of earrings can do! I also love the red & turquoise combination ..gets me every time!

happy weekend!
